Terms of Service

By making a MachiSpot account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or older. If you are under the age of majority where you live (19 in some provinces and countries), you need a parent or guardian's permission.

One person, one account. Do not use somebody else's account or let somebody else use yours.

Your content

The places, notes, titles, collections and routes you create are yours. We do not claim ownership of them. We store and display them only to run the app for you and to show them to the people you have chosen to share them with.

You are responsible for what you write and share.

Community rules

MachiSpot is for planning fun with people you like. These rules cover everything you write or share in the app: messages, group names, the names of pins and routes you share, reviews, your name and your username. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.

• Be kind. No harassment, threats, bullying, hate speech, or targeting anyone.
• Nothing nasty. No sexual content, nothing involving minors, nothing violent or illegal. No spam, scams, impersonating somebody else, or mass-following to advertise.
• Private stays private. Do not share somebody's home, private location or personal information without their consent.
• Do not break into, scrape, overload or reverse-engineer the service, or use MachiSpot to break any law where you are.

Before your first message or your first review, the app asks you to agree to these rules.

A word filter checks what you write before it is saved. Words that break the rules are not posted, and the app tells you so you can change them. What anyone can see (names, usernames, reviews, and the names of pins and routes in chats) is checked more strictly than words in a private chat. The filter knows English words for now, so it will not catch everything: please report what it misses.

Reporting and blocking

You can report a message, a review or a person from inside the app, or email hello@machispot.com. A person reads every report within 24 hours. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and the account that posted it can be suspended or deleted, without notice.

You can block anybody at any time, which hides you from each other completely. We do not tell somebody they have been blocked or reported.

Third-party services

MachiSpot shows place information from Google Maps Platform and opens directions in Google Maps, Apple Maps or Uber. Those services have their own terms, and we are not responsible for their content or accuracy. Place ratings, photos and names belong to Google and the people who wrote them.

Video links you share belong to the platform they came from. MachiSpot stores the link and the place it found, never the video.

The app is provided as it is

MachiSpot is offered "as is". Travel times, routes and place information are estimates from third parties and can be wrong. Use your own judgement about where you go and how you get there, and follow the road rules. We are not liable for anything that happens on a trip you plan with the app.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you have paid us, which today is nothing.

Stopping

You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete my account. We can close an account that breaks these terms. If the service shuts down, we will give notice in the app so you can save what matters to you.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will show it in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use MachiSpot after that means you accept the new terms.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.
