Android is open now: three taps and you’re in. iPhone is next, so get on the list.
It takes about a minute. See you on the map!
Three taps and you’re in.
On a computer? Grab your phone.
Point your Android phone’s camera at this square to open this page there. Every step is easiest on the phone you’ll use MachiSpot on.
You can tap steps 1 and 2 here too, if this computer is signed in to the same Google account as your phone.
-
Join the tester group
Tap the button, then Join group.
Use the Google account your Play Store uses. Not sure which one? Open the Play Store and look at the round picture at the top right.
Join the group -
Become a tester
Do step 1 first. Then open Google’s test page and tap Become a tester. This is the step Google counts.
Check the round picture at the top right of Google’s page. It must be the same account as step 1. Seeing “App not available”? Here’s the fix.
Become a tester -
Install MachiSpot
Tap the button on your phone to open MachiSpot in the Play Store, then install it. Sign up in the app, and Machi shows you around.
Play Store can’t find it? Step 2 isn’t done yet, or Google is still catching up. Wait a few minutes and try again.
Get it on Google Play
Seeing “App not available”?
Google shows this when it can’t match you to the test. It’s almost always one of these:
- You’re inside another app. Links tapped in Messenger, TikTok, Instagram or Facebook open in that app’s own browser, which isn’t signed in to Google. Tap ⋯ at the top, then Open in Chrome (or Open in browser), and start again from step 1.
- You’re using Samsung Internet. It’s often not signed in to Google either. Open this page in Chrome (it uses your phone’s Google account) and start again from step 1.
- It’s the wrong Google account. Tap the round picture at the top right of Google’s page and switch to the account your Play Store uses. Then do steps 1 and 2 again with that account.
- Step 1 got skipped. Join the group first, then open step 2 again.
- You only just joined. Google can take a few minutes to catch up. Wait 5 minutes, then refresh Google’s page.

Please stay for 14 days.
Google needs 12 testers to stay in the test for 14 days in a row before MachiSpot can launch for everyone. If you leave early, your 14 days start over. So keep the app installed, stay opted in, and use it whenever you spot somewhere good.
iPhone is next.
We’re getting MachiSpot ready for iPhone. Leave your email and we’ll write once, the day the iPhone test opens.
We’ll only email you about MachiSpot on iPhone, and take you off the list whenever you ask. Privacy Policy

About your email
When you join the tester group, MachiSpot can see your name and email there. We use them only to run the test, and you can leave the group any time. Google runs the group, so Google’s privacy policy applies to it. What the app itself collects is in our Privacy Policy.
Leaving the test
Open the test page and leave the program there, then leave the group. To delete your MachiSpot account too, see Delete your account.
